Scope

Apex Surveys were commissioned by the OPW to carry out Floor Plan, Elevation and Photogrammetry Survey of 12 key National Monuments within the Trim district which expands throughout the province of Leinster. Survey included:

  • Trim Castle

  • Bective Abbey

  • Grange Castle

  • Carlingford Castle

  • Glendalough Monuments

  • Jigginstown House

  • St Audoens Church

  • St Marys Abbey

  • Baylinn Cross

  • Dromiskin High Cross

  • Corlea Trackway

  • Kells Church

Key Activities

  • During the survey works, specific plans were put in place to ensure that the integrity of the monuments was not compromised.

  • Safety measures were implemented for areas where the structures were in ruin or where there was risk of falling from height.

  • Some monuments remained open to the public during survey works and required liaising with OPW staff to minimize disruption.

  • Laser scanning and photogrammetry techniques were employed using high-precision laser scanning and camera technology.

  • The resulting data was provided in AutoCAD format, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and ceiling plans.

  • Additionally, rectified photos were provided in AutoCAD format for further analysis and reference.
