Scope

The N2 Ardee to Castleblayney and N2 Clontibret to Border road schemes are two major road schemes in Counties Monaghan and Louth which aim to upgrade the N2 Dublin – Derry Road.

Monaghan County Council commissioned Apex Surveys to carry out a Topographic Survey of the preferred route along with Underground Utility Mapping at urban areas and areas of specific interest.

Key Activities

  • Comprehensive survey control network established throughout the survey area.

  • Liaised with local authorities, land owners and other stakeholders.

  • Approx 18,000,000 SQM of farmlands surveyed.

  • Approx 60km of the N2 surveyed.

  • Many kilometres of secondary and local roads surveyed.

  • Waterways, rivers and streams surveyed using survey boat and sonar where required.

  • Topographic features included kerbs, walls, fences, street furniture, services, spot heights, road levels, contours and other above ground features.

  • Underground Utility Survey included foul, storm, electrics, telecom, gas, watermain and other subsurface infrastructure.

  • Surveys on public roads required implementation of Traffic MGMT as per Chapter 8.

  • Survey delivered in AutoCAD 2D and 3D formats.
